Kim Seeley Bio:

The majority of my childhood was spent growing up in Hannibal, Missouri. I was a very active little girl as far back as I can remember. Loved riding horses at my grand parent’s farm. Played outside most of my summers off. Loved kickball, climbing trees and running. At the age of thirteen the track coach took notice of my speed in gym class and asked me to run sprints against his high school girls. I was thrilled. So, I did! I never beat them but I showed enough talent that he asked me to train with his athletes the following track season.
Unfortunately, My life took a different turn and I never did run with the team. At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This new and overwhelming disease overpowered any hopes I had of pursuing competitive athletics. My physicians felt as if competitive sports would be far too difficult to manage. In hindsight it could not have been a more destructive decision. Today it’s a different story. I am blessed to be in an age were science, technology and education are making it possible for diabetic athletes to achieve success at any level. Yes, I’m a little older now but its never too late. Thanks to the sport of fitness, I have another chance. I look back at the past and often wonder about "what ifs". It’s something I have struggled with. I have learned that you just can not do that to move forward. "Today I am inspired to be better, not bitter".
