My life began on May 2nd, and I was born in an American Embassy Hospital, in Danang, Vietnam. My mom is part Chinese and Vietnamese. She is from Saigon. My father is part Irish and German from Kentucky. My father was in the Air Force and he ended up working for the government after he left the military. He was an engineer for a company called Bell Helicopter. He saw my mother in a beauty contest called “Miss Saigon” and he pursued her. It was love at first sight!
I ended up moving around a lot, especially during my younger years. I went to 18 different American Embassy schools until I was 16 years old then I settled here in Florida. Most of my early childhood was spent in Louisville, Kentucky. That’s where most of my dad’s side of his family still lives. I traveled all over but lived in a few interesting places like Iran (Tehran), Saudi Arabia (Mecca), Europe, and Hong Kong. Traveling with my dad when he was stationed in different countries definitely gave me my love for traveling and experiencing different cultures. Even though I loved traveling it was difficult to make new friends and then end up leaving them.
It was hard growing up because I never felt I fit in because of my ethnicities. That’s why my mother put me in martial art since I was 6 years old. I’m a 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I became a junior black belt when I hit 15 years old. The belt is half black and red. You cannot be a black belt and register for the state until you're 18. I was kind of fat growing up and kids use to tease me and called me, “Fat Chink and Ugly”. I admit I was a big time Nerd! I had a big gap between my teeth, didn’t take care of my body, and definitely had no clue about fashion or style. But, I think every kid growing up has an awkward stage in there life. Plus, when I was growing up I was a major tomboy. I used to get into fistfights with the neighborhood boys who picked on me. I hated high school. I loved college and ended up going to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
